Benson (1964) は Euclea lanceolata としており[6]、これは後に Euclea crispa subsp. crispa のシノニムとされているが、現在ではそのアフリカ東部における分布の北限はザンビア・マラウイ・モザンビークのいずれかとされ[7]、キクユ人 (wp)の暮らすケニアでの分布は認められていない。
